President Shahabuddin swears in 3 govts in 3 years
On 24 April 2023, Mohammad Shahabuddin was sworn in as the 22nd President of Bangladesh.
In an unusual episode in Bangladesh's political history, President Mohammad Shahabuddin has become the first in the country to swear in three governments over just three years, marking a period of rapid political transition.
The President administered the oath to BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman as the new Prime Minister at a ceremony held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban this afternoon (17 February).
He also swore in ministers and state ministers of the new cabinet formed under Tarique Rahman's leadership.
On 11 January 2024, President Shahabuddin administered the oath to the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina following the national election that year.
But the Awami League government fell on 5 August 2024 amid the July Uprising.
On 8 August 2024, an interim government was formed under the leadership of Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus.
President Shahabuddin also administered the oath to the members of the interim administration.
