Voter registration in several countries, including Saudi Arabia, has been temporarily suspended due to the failure to provide complete addresses.
Registration for expatriates living in Bahrain, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates has been temporarily suspended on the "Postal Vote BD" app due to incomplete address submissions.
Brig Gen (Retd) Saleem Ahmad Khan, team leader for the Election Commission's Out of Country Voting System and Implementation (OCV-SDI) project said on Thursday (27 November) that without accurate and complete addresses, it will not be possible to send postal ballot papers.
Ahead of the national election and the referendum, Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the app on 18 November.
Registration began the following day, and by Wednesday evening, 40,512 people from different regions had registered.
Expatriate Bangladeshis in nearly 150 countries are able to register simultaneously, and the process will continue until 18 December.
