Actor Pori Moni denied bail again, lands in jail
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandol also ordered to send Pori Moni’s associate Ashraful Islam Dipu to jail

A Dhaka court on Friday rejected the bail appeal filed by actor Pori Moni and sent her to jail in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Earlier, twice bail petitions filed by the actor were denied by the court.
Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandol passed the order today when Criminal Investigation Department (CID) men produced her before the court after conclusion of her 2-day remand.
Before that, mentioning that Pori Moni is a patient of panic attack, her lawyer appealed to court for her bail considering her treatment.
Pori Moni's lawyer Mozibur Rahman said the case's investigating agency, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and prosecution argued against the bail prayer saying the actress might be fleeing abroad if the bail Is granted.
In reply, Pori Moni's lawyers appealed for bail by placing her passport before the court.
Mozibur told the court that Pori Moni is a popular actress and she has some scheduled movies to complete. The films' productions will be hampered if she is not granted bail, he added. The court, however, turned down the bail plea.
The court also ordered to send her associate Ashraful Islam Dipu to jail.
Pori Moni was then taken to Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur, said Mozibur.
Earlier, a Dhaka Court had placed the actor on 2-day fresh remand Tuesday after she had been produced before the court at the end of a 4-day remand.
She was arrested in a raid on her Banani residence in the capital on 4 August with reportedly a huge quantity of foreign liquor as well as LSD and paraphernalia drugs.
In this connection, a case was filed with Banani police station under the Narcotics Control Act.
In the following day, Pori Moni and Dipu were placed on four-day remand each by Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid in the case.
Meanwhile, Pori Moni's friend and film producer Nazrul Islam Raj and his associate Sabuj Ali were also sent to jail by Metropolitan magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandal in cases filed under the Narcotics Control Act and Pornography Control Act on Friday.
They were arrested from Banani hours after the raid in Pori Moni's house.
The court on Friday also sent model Morium Akter Mou to jail in a narcotics case after the CID produced her before the court following interrogation in remand.
The recent arrests started early August with the detentions of two models Mou and Faria Mahbub Piasha.
The CID has been investigating 14 recent cases filed against Pori Moni, Mou, Piasha, Raj, and expelled Awami League leader Helena Jahangir.
