UK envoy reaffirms support for women's leadership in meeting with NCP leaders
High Commissioner Cooke reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting women’s empowerment and gender equality, noting that these values remain at the heart of the UK’s foreign policy and development cooperation in Bangladesh.

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke met with women leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) yesterday (24 September) as part of the United Kingdom's ongoing dialogue with political parties to promote inclusive democracy and gender equality.
Discussions focused on the contributions of Bangladeshi women in the democratic transition and the political reform process, said NCP Joint Member Secretary (Media) Mushfiq Us Salehin.
High Commissioner Cooke reaffirmed the United Kingdom's commitment to supporting women's empowerment and gender equality, noting that these values remain at the heart of the UK's foreign policy and development cooperation in Bangladesh.
The high commissioner was accompanied by Kate Ward, head of internal politics, and Tahera Jabeen, social development adviser from the British High Commission.
The NCP delegation was represented by Tajnuva Jabeen, Monira Sharmin, Nusrat Tabassum, Mahmuda Mitu, Sadia Farjana, Homaira Noor, and Tanha Shanta.
The NCP leaders highlighted their active participation in the ongoing consensus commission for reforms, shared their motivations, and experiences from grassroots organising.
They talked about both the opportunities and challenges faced by women leaders in shaping the country's future political landscape.
