Tension at Cucsu polls: Shibir accused of election code violation
Female activists of Shibir were specifically accused of distributing tokens and attempting to sway voters close to the polling booths

A sudden commotion broke out during the polling for the Chattogram University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) election today (15 October), following allegations of code of conduct violations by Shibir activists.
The situation escalated at the Faculty of Business Administration centre at approximately 3:30pm.
Independent candidates, including those affiliated with Chhatra Dal, Droho Parishad, and Sarbojonin Shiksharthi Parishad, alleged that several activists from Islami Chhatra Shibir had gathered near the polling station in an attempt to influence voters. Female activists of the Shibir student wing were specifically accused of distributing tokens and attempting to sway voters close to the polling booths.

By 4:30pm, the complainants had positioned themselves at the faculty's main gate. Despite repeated attempts by Cucsu Election Commissioners to engage in dialogue, the disturbance persisted.
About 10 to 15 policemen were deployed inside the faculty premises to maintain order.
"We have received a number of complaints. There was a misunderstanding regarding entry through the north gate, which we resolved immediately. If anyone is found to have violated the code of conduct, necessary action will be taken following investigation," Cucsu Election Commissioner Amir Muhammad Nasrullah told The Business Standard.
He added, "The students have briefed the Election Commissioners regarding code of conduct violations. I have been at this centre since 3pm. There was a crowd at the gate shortly before the close of polls. We arranged for voters to enter one by one to cast their ballots. Any complaints can be submitted in writing to the Election Commission, and we will take action accordingly."
