Some NCP members joined hands with AL: BNP Vice Chairman Kaikobad
Some members of the newly-formed National Citizen Party (NCP) have aligned themselves with the Awami League, BNP Vice Chairman Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad claimed today (19 April).
Speaking at a rally organised by the BNP in Cumilla's Muradnagar this afternoon, Kaikobad – who returned in December after spending 13 years in exile in different countries – said, "If they [NCP] want a fair election, I will personally make space for them on stage. But today, they have shaken hands with Awami League supporters.
"Followers of former Awami League MP Yusuf Abdullah Harun once tried to kill me and burn me in a brickfield fire. And now, these NCP supporters, led by Asif Mahmud, have allied with Harun's followers."
The BNP leader also said, "Is there any extortion or corruption in Muradnagar? No. BNP members don't engage in extortion."
Addressing the students in his speech, he said, "Students are our pride. But some so-called students are trying to pollute our society today. I want to tell Dr Yunus that you are our pride, you have a special place in our hearts. Please ensure that students' education is not hampered."
