Russia, China and India are openly and secretly supporting the illegal activities of the ruling Awami League-led government,  alleged Reza Kibria, convener of Gono Odhikar Parishad's 'Kibria-Faruk faction' today.

"We are making it clear that the people will not accept the domination-aggression of these countries," he said at a black flag march of his party demanding the resignation of the Al-led government at Shahbagh of the capital on Friday (25 August).

Addressing party activists in front of the National Press Club, he said the next parliamentary election must be held under a caretaker government.

"The fall of this government is only a matter of time. There is only darkness around them. There is no way to escape, because they have no friends in the democratic world. All doors are closed," Kibria said .

He continued, "Although this government has no friends in the democratic world, it is getting the support of some sectarian, dictatorial and fascist states like China, Russia and India.

"The actors of these states are openly and secretly backing the illegal activities of this government. These countries have carried out left-wing aggression in the political, economic and cultural aspects of Bangladesh for the past 15 years. The proof of which is with the democratic world.

"We want to say to all those fascist states: We will not accept foreign domination-aggression in this country as long as we are alive. We will fight vigorously for voting rights, human rights and good governance with the last drop of our life."

Meanwhile Faruk Hasan, acting member secretary of the Kibria-Faruk faction of the  Gono Odhikar Parishad, said the price of onion has increased by Tk20 per kg in the country as India slapped an additional duty on the export of the item.

"Low-income people have their backs against the wall. Doesn't Sheikh Hasina have a husband and wife relationship with India? So why can't she reduce the duty on onion imports from India?"

Referring to the government, he said, "Your time is over. Submitting to China-India or Russia-India will not save you from collapsing. The people of this country no longer accept your misrule. Handover the power to a caretaker government to resign immediately."

In the meantime, Colonel (retd) Mia Moshiuzzaman, also a former joint convener of the party and a supporter of the other faction led by Kibria, demanded that the government reinstate the clause 'except Israel' in passports.

He also condemned the alleged laundering of Tk10,000 crore by S Alam Group, and taking a loan of Tk22,000 crore by Beximco Group.
