The Rajshahi University Election Commission has completed all preparations for the Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (Rucsu), hall union, and Senate student representative elections.
Chief Election Commissioner Prof F Nazrul Islam announced this at a press briefing held at the university's Senate Building today (15 October) afternoon.
He said the Rucsu, hall union, and Senate student representative elections will be held tomorrow (16 October), from 9am to 4pm without interruption. Voting will take place in 990 booths across 17 centres located in 9 academic buildings. Each voter will cast their ballot for a total of 43 positions—23 in Rucsu, 5 in the Senate, and 15 in the hall unions.

A total of 28,901 students are eligible to vote, while 860 candidates are contesting across the three representative bodies. Each voter will have approximately 10 minutes to cast their votes using 6 ballot papers. The counting of votes will take place at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium, where 6 OMR machines will be used to process the results.
To ensure security during the election, around 2,000 police personnel, 6 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and 12 platoons of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will be deployed across the campus.
In total, 212 teachers will be engaged in conducting the election, including 17 as presiding officers and the remainder as assistant presiding officers. 91 officials will serve as polling officers.
Prof Islam added that all electoral activities will be conducted under CCTV surveillance, and transparent ballot boxes will be used to maintain transparency.
Election Commissioner Mustafa Kamal Akand stated that the ballot papers were printed at a secured location and feature 8 distinct security measures.
There will also be two layers of voter verification, including the use of indelible ink, ensuring that no fraudulent votes can be cast.
The Election Commission expects to announce the results within 12 to 15 hours after counting begins.
