Repeated horrific incidents aimed at putting govt in a difficult position: Fakhrul on Musabbir killing
Fakhrul also demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of those involved in Musabbir’s killing
The killing of Azizur Rahman Musabbir reflects a pattern of horrific incidents being repeated to put the government in a difficult position, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today (8 January).
In a condolence message, Fakhrul described the attack on Musabbir, former general secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Swechchhasebak Dal, as part of a broader scheme by saboteurs to create anarchy in the country for political gain.
"After the fall of the Awami autocratic ruling clique during the student-public movement, saboteurs have again engaged in activities to destabilise the country and benefit from the resulting chaos. The brutal killing of Musabbir in a cruel attack is a stark manifestation of this," he said.

The BNP leader said Musabbir was shot and killed yesterday in a "cruel and barbaric" attack.
Highlighting the recurring nature of such incidents, Fakhrul called for a strong response to suppress the saboteurs.
"To establish democracy, protect the people's voting rights, and safeguard lives and property, citizens from all walks of life must remain united. Otherwise, accomplices of Awami fascists may rise again to endanger the country's existence," he warned.
