Problems must be solved through elections: Fakhrul
A swift election is essential. Necessary reforms should be implemented to facilitate this election, he says

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today (21 March) stressed the urgency of holding elections without delay to address the current crises and challenges in the country.
"A swift election is essential. Necessary reforms should be implemented to facilitate this election," he said during an iftar event at Dhaka Ladies Club in the capital.
The BNP leader also said, "Problems cannot be solved by relying on illusions or utopian thoughts, nor can they be resolved through emotions. We must think realistically, plan for the future, and work towards change to establish a new and democratic Bangladesh,"
About reforms, Fakhrul mentioned that the interim government has formed reform commissions, with which BNP is maintaining communication.
"We are reviewing their proposals and presenting our viewpoints. However, we must remember to consider the political heritage, religious values, culture, and traditions of the people of Bangladesh while choosing the path of reform and progress," he said.
Fakhrul highlighted the current political challenges, stating, "We are going through a very difficult time. After the mass uprising ousted the fascist regime, an interim government was formed. The people are now waiting for the establishment of a new democratic parliament."
Referring to BNP's 31-point reform agenda, introduced by acting chairperson Tarique Rahman two years ago, Fakhrul said, "The state system has collapsed, and our 31-point agenda offers comprehensive reforms necessary for meaningful change."
Tarique Rahman virtually joined the event as the chief guest.
