'Noakhali my maternal ancestral home, ensure BNP's victory', says Tarique
Addressing thousands of party leaders and supporters, the BNP chairman said the people of the region have demands from BNP, and BNP also has demands from them.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today (25 January) urged voters to ensure victory for the party's candidates in all seats of greater Noakhali, referring to the area as his maternal ancestral home.
"Assalamu Alaikum. How are you all? I have come to Feni after so many years. This morning, my first meeting was in Chattogram. I have an emotional connection with Chattogram. I also have a family connection with Feni and greater Noakhali. My maternal ancestral home is here," he told an election rally at the Feni Pilot School ground.
Addressing thousands of party leaders and supporters, the BNP chairman said the people of the region have demands from BNP, and BNP also has demands from them.
"Just as the people of Feni, Noakhali and Lakshmipur have expectations from BNP to solve their problems, BNP also has one key demand from them. That demand is to make the 'sheaf of paddy' victorious," he said.
Referring to demands for a medical college and an EPZ in Feni, Tarique said BNP will take steps to establish a medical college in the district.
"Rafiqul Alam Majnu mentioned earlier that Feni needs a medical college. Insha'Allah, we will establish a medical college," he said.
Tarique said BNP also plans to ensure healthcare services for rural people, particularly women and children, by appointing healthcare workers across villages nationwide.
"These healthcare workers will work like the village doctors during the time of martyred president Ziaur Rahman. They will go door to door to provide basic healthcare services to mothers, sisters and children, so they do not have to come to hospitals for minor illnesses unless the illness is serious," he said.
After concluding a rally at Chattogram's Polo Ground, Tarique Rahman arrived at the Feni Pilot School ground at 5:55pm.
He offered Maghrib prayers there before taking the stage.
After the Feni rally, he was scheduled to visit Chauddagram in Cumilla, followed by rallies in Soagazi and Daudkandi of Cumilla, and at Balur Math in Narayanganj.
Tarique Rahman formally launched BNP's election campaign from Sylhet on 22 January. This was his second campaign outside the capital.
