NCP lacked prudence in skipping July Charter signing: Fakhrul
They will realise their mistake and eventually come to the right path, he says

The National Citizen Party (NCP) showed a "lack of prudence" in its decision to skip the July National Charter signing ceremony, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today (17 October).
"In our discussions with them [NCP] and at the consensus commission meetings, they were positive on almost all issues. The disagreements could have been discussed further. We could have sat together again and resolved them. And I think it was a lack of prudence of them; otherwise, they would certainly have signed today," he said.
Fakhrul made the remarks while speaking to BBC Bangla after attending the July Charter signing ceremony at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
The BNP leader described the NCP's absence as a "misunderstanding" rather than a sign of division.
"They will realise their mistake and eventually come to the right path," Fakhrul said.
Calling the signing ceremony a "historic moment," the BNP leader said, "Today we saw another example of how our political parties can act responsibly and all parties can work collectively in need of the nation and the state."
He expressed optimism that parties which did not sign the charter could still sign it through further dialogue.
When asked whether disagreements would continue to persist, Fakhrul replied, "In every country and in every era, debates never completely go away. Unfortunately, we tend to enjoy arguing."
Despite the differences, he termed the July Charter a "great achievement," saying that further discussions will take place to ensure its implementation.
