NCP expects largest gathering in upcoming 'anti-discrimination march' in Ctg

The National Citizen Party (NCP) is set to launch an "anti-discrimination march" from Chattogram to the country's hill districts, aiming to raise public awareness against inequality and political repression through peaceful assemblies.

At a press conference held at the Chattogram Press Club today (17 July), central leaders of the party announced the upcoming program, saying that they will carry out peaceful activities across Chattogram and the hill districts, while adopting a firm stance against any misinformation or propaganda.

During the press conference, NCP's Central Joint Chief Secretary Emon Syed and Joint Chief Organiser Zubairul Hossain Arif outlined that the march will begin on Saturday morning (19 July) toward Cox's Bazar, followed by events in Bandarban in the afternoon and Rangamati on Sunday (20 July).

Zubairul said, "There is no concern that the tragic Gopalganj incident will be repeated in Chattogram. The people here are peaceful and disciplined. We believe this march will be conducted peacefully. After Dhaka, Chattogram is one of the key cities in our movement. We expect the largest turnout here."

Addressing potential misuse of the party's name, Emon said, "If any allegations arise in the name of the Students Against Discrimination (SAD) or the National Citizen Party (NCP), they must be supported with evidence and reported to us. If anyone attempts extortion or criminal activity under the NCP's name, we will take immediate action."

"We urge journalists to report with proper verification and call upon law enforcement agencies to respond swiftly and firmly if such incidents happen," Emon said.
