BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the entire nation is disappointed following the interim government's announcement of holding national elections in April 2026.
Speaking to reporters upon his return from Thailand late Friday night (6 June) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Mirza Fakhrul stated, "The interim government's declaration of an April election timeline has left the nation disheartened."
He added, "The BNP has consistently called for an early election. We had hoped that CA Yunus would announce a date by December. But undoubtedly, not just the BNP, the entire nation is disappointed with the announcement of an April election."
Fakhrul had been in Bangkok for medical treatment and made the remarks shortly after landing in Dhaka.
