Meghmallar Basu resigns from Chhatra Union
Holding policymaking positions in Chhatra Union and Network for People's Action has created a conflict of interest, he says.
Meghmallar Basu has resigned as the education and research affairs secretary of the central committee of one faction of the Bangladesh Chhatra Union.
He confirmed his resignation to The Business Standard today (25 July).
The Chhatra Union said in a press release that it had accepted Meghmallar's resignation.

The organisation also announced the resignation of Vice President Main Ahmed and the removal of another vice president, Nazifa Jannat.
Following the July Uprising, Meghmallar became a central committee and council member of Network for People's Action (NPA), a newly established political platform.
He previously contested the Ducsu election for the post of General Secretary (GS) from the Pratirodh Parishad panel, securing 4,949 votes.
Speaking to The Business Standard, Meghmallar said holding policymaking positions in both organisations had created a conflict of interest.
"We, who were members of the NPA central committee, were facing a conflict of interest. We were simultaneously members of the NPA central committee and the Chhatra Union central committee," he said.
"From this point onward, since our responsibilities at DU have ended, we will fully concentrate on NPA politics. At the same time, I will no longer have any relationship with the Chhatra Union," he said.
The organisation said the leaders voluntarily resigned to avoid a conflict of interest, and the central committee accepted their resignations.
The statement added that Nazifa Jannat was relieved of her responsibilities for the same organisational reasons.
The Chhatra Union thanked the outgoing leaders for their contributions and wished them success in the future.
