Many ruled for 53 years, Jamaat's rule remains to be seen: Golam Parwar
“Now all that remains to be seen is the rule of Jamaat,” Parwar, also former MP for Khulna-5 (Dumuria-Phultala) constituency, said at a party programme in Khulna’s Fultala

The people of Bangladesh have seen the rule of many governments over the course of 53 years since the country's independence, but Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islam's rule is yet to be seen, the Islamist party's Secretary General Golam Parwar said today (21 February).
"Now all that remains to be seen is the rule of Jamaat," Parwar, also former MP for Khulna-5 (Dumuria-Phultala) constituency, said at a party programme in Khulna's Fultala.
He also criticised political parties that want the national election before state reforms.
"There are many who want to come to power by holding elections now. But we have said the areas, where there is trash from the past 15 years, should first be cleaned and renovated, and then elections should be held," he said.
Referring to controversial elections held under the Awami League government during its rule, the Jamaat leader said, "The people do not want to see any more elections like the ones held in 2014, 2018 and 2024."
"In the last three elections, the Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, and 'police league' did not allow people to vote. The people of this country never want to see such elections again. The countrymen want a clean, transparent, and acceptable election," he said.
The Jamaat leader also demanded the release of the party's former acting secretary general Azharul Islam who was sentenced to death for Liberation War-related crimes during the Awami League regime.
