July Charter draft incomplete, contains dangerous elements: Jamaat
The party proposes ordinance or referendum for implementation of July Charter

The proposed historic July Charter is incomplete and contains elements that could pose serious risks, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said today (29 July).
"This draft is incomplete and parts of it are dangerous. If this is just a sample and a mistake, then there is no need for comment. But if this represents the actual proposal, then it is unacceptable," Taher said while speaking at the 21st day of the dialogue between the National Consensus Commission held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital's Bailey Road.
Taher emphasised that any consensus reached during the dialogue must be legally enforceable.
To provide legal validation to the July Charter, he proposed two possible methods: either issuing an ordinance to establish a legal framework that could later be ratified by the elected parliament, or conducting a referendum to seek final approval from the people of the country.
The Jamaat leader added, "Jamaat is currently drafting its own version of the charter and plans to submit it to the commission. We want to legitimise this framework through one of the two methods."
He reiterated the party's support for national consensus, but stressed that it must be effective and grounded in a legal structure.
"Otherwise, the country's political future could fall into uncertainty," Taher warned.
