Jatiyo Party alleges ‘election engineering’ by interim govt behind polls defeat
“In stronghold constituencies of the party, it was pushed to third place and deposits were forfeited, which is inconsistent with the results of previous elections."
The Jatiyo Party today (22 February) alleged that its candidates were defeated in the 13th national election due to "meticulously designed election engineering" carried out under the direction of the interim government.
Jatiyo Party Secretary General Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary made the allegation at a press conference held at the Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium, according to a press release issued tonight.
At the press conference, the secretary general presented information on voting irregularities in various constituencies across the country.
Alleging discrimination by the interim government, he said, "The administration carried out election engineering under the interim government's direction. A blueprint election was conducted so that the Jatiyo Party would not win even a single seat and would not secure even 1% of the vote."
"In stronghold constituencies of the party, it was pushed to third place and deposits were forfeited, which is inconsistent with the results of previous elections, something the Jatiyo Party finds surprising," he added.
