Jamaat terms election roadmap 'traditional and misleading'
In an immediate reaction shared on the party’s Facebook page today (28 August), Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said, “The roadmap does not reflect the expectations of the people.”

In response to the Election Commission's announcement of the national election roadmap, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has described it as "traditional and somewhat misleading."
In an immediate reaction shared on the party's Facebook page today (28 August), Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said, "The roadmap does not reflect the expectations of the people."
He further stated that the nation expects the upcoming parliamentary election, scheduled for February next year, to be free, fair, and acceptable. "However, the method by which the election will be held has not yet been finalised."
The Jamaat leader added, "Even the legal foundation of the July Charter and its process of implementation remain unsettled. Under such circumstances, announcing this roadmap is flawed and partial."
Parwar further said, "We believe that to uphold the spirit of the July revolution and re-establish democracy in the country, the roadmap should have been announced only after providing a legal basis for the July Charter and finalising its implementation process."
Meanwhile, BNP welcomes the election roadmap.
In a statement posted on BNP media cell's Facebook page, BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin called the development "positive" and said the timing was right.
"We expect that the national elections will be held in accordance with this roadmap," he said.
