Jamaat submits party constitution, bank account details to EC
Jamaat had said it was unable to open a bank account due to what it called an “unfavourable environment.”

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has submitted its party constitution and bank account details to the Election Commission (EC), fulfilling one of the key requirements for political party registration.
An additional secretary at the EC confirmed the submission, stating that Jamaat provided its bank account number and the name of the bank.
The party has opened an account with Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, said the official.
Jamaat leaders Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, assistant secretary general, and Advocate Jasim Uddin Sarkar submitted the documents to the EC today (8 October).
Earlier, Jamaat had said it was unable to open a bank account due to what it called an "unfavourable environment."
Responding to a question in August, party's Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad said, "We haven't been able to live freely for the last 15 years, how could we open a bank account?"
He added that the party would complete the process "when the environment becomes favourable."
