Jamaat rally attacked allegedly by BNP men in Narayanganj
Five Jamaat activists have reportedly been injured in the incident

Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami alleged that BNP members attacked a mass rally in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj today (14 June), leaving at least five people injured.
The incident occurred around 3:30pm in the Gahardi area of Mahmudpur union, during a roadside gathering organised in support of a Jamaat candidate.
According to Jamaat leaders, the rally was proceeding peacefully when local BNP members suddenly disrupted the programme. A heated argument reportedly escalated into an attack on Jamaat activists.
Motahar Hossain, former ameer of the upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami, claimed the attack was led by local BNP leaders Shahjahan Shikari and Yusuf Shikari.
"Shahjahan Shikari, president of Ward-8 BNP in Mahmudpur union, led the assault. At least five of our members were injured," he said, adding that two were hospitalised.
Jamaat's nominated candidate for Araihazar (Narayanganj-2), Ilias Molla, condemned the alleged attack.
"This was an unprovoked assault. We will approach the authorities and demand that those responsible be brought to justice," he said.
Shahjahan Shikari could not be reached for a comment.
However, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Jewel said, "I am not aware of the incident. We are looking into it."
Khandaker Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Araihazar Police Station, said, "The situation is under control. If a written complaint is submitted, appropriate legal steps will be taken."
