Jamaat has sought permission to organise the rally either at Suhrawardy Udyan or Manik Mia Avenue.
The Jamaat-e-Islami has announced plans to hold a rally in Dhaka on 3 January.
The party has applied to the authorities seeking permission to organise the rally either at Suhrawardy Udyan or Manik Mia Avenue, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair told The Business Standard this morning (24 December).
Meanwhile, its student wing, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, will hold its annual member conference on 26 December.
Shibir Office Secretary Sibgatullah Sibga told TBS the event will be organised at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Dhaka.
On the Jamaat rally, Zubair said it will be organised to protest the prevailing law and order situation across the country and criminal activities, and to demand justice for the murder of Inqilab Mancha leader Sharif Osman Hadi.
Other leaders of the party said the grand gathering will also prioritise ensuring a level playing field ahead of the upcoming general election, public safety, and the protection of lives and property.
