Jamaat greets UN High Commission for Human Rights for its reports

Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh today (15 February) greeted the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights to unearth the truth behind the killings of July-August uprising.
The party Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman in a press statement said the probe report released recently by the UN body recognised that fascist Sheikh Hasina had launched inhuman and brutal killing mission across the country from 1 July to 15 August to stay in power.
"The report exposed the identities and information of the killers and their masterminds before the world…Truth has been revealed by this report," he added.
He said according to the report, the killing mission was carried out across the country during the July-August uprising following the instruction of fascist Sheikh Hasina.
"The entire nation expressed satisfaction over the UN report and became optimistic for holding trial of the offenders," he said.
In this connection, he said limitless torture, forcibly disappearances, barbaric and brutal killing missions were carried out by the masterminds and their collaborators during the period when many bodies of the victims were burnt.
During the fascist regime, he said democracy, democratic and constitutional institutions were destroyed when innocent people were tortured mercilessly and disappeared forcefully in "Aynaghars" (torture cell).
"This report released by the UN Commission for Human Rights on the atrocities perpetrated by the then Awami League government would be considered as a legal documents of mass killings in future," he said.
The Jamaat chief demanded the interim government to bring the killers and their masterminds to book as soon as possible.
