Jamaat expresses concern, condemns exhumation and burning of Nural Pagla's body
'It is unfortunate, unwanted, and unacceptable that attempts are being made to link Jamaat with this incident,' says Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Zubair

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over yesterday's incident in which the body of Nurul Haque Molla, popularly known as 'Nural Pagla', was exhumed and set on fire in Rajbari's Goalanda.
In a statement issued today (6 September), Jamaat's Assistant Secretary General and Chief of the party's Central Publicity and Media Department, Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, said, "In Goalanda, a group identifying itself as the 'Iman-Aqidah Protection Committee' exhumed the body of Nurul Haque – who had claimed to be 'Imam Mahdi' during his lifetime – and burned it."
"Nurul Haque is now deceased; whatever he did during his life, he will be accountable to Allah. However, Islam does not permit exhuming and burning a body. This act has violated both human and religious values. We strongly condemn and express grave concern over this incident," he added.
Zubair further stated that Jamaat-e-Islami is a systematic, democratic, and Islamic movement, and it does not tolerate any activities that create disorder in society and the state.
"It is unfortunate, unwanted, and unacceptable that attempts are being made to link Jamaat with this incident," he added.
He also stressed that since the country has a legal and judicial system, taking the law into one's own hands is unacceptable.
"For the sake of maintaining law and order, peace, and stability, law enforcement agencies should have played a more responsible role. We call upon all concerned to refrain from any acts that may create unrest and disorder in society and the state," he said.
