Interim govt must take responsibility for implementing July Charter: Khelafat Majlis
"We demand PR-based upper house elections, legal backing for the July Charter, transparent judicial proceedings, suspension of fascist groups’ political activities, and appointment of religious teachers in primary schools," the party's Secretary General Ahmad Abdul Quader says

Khelafat Majlis Secretary General Ahmad Abdul Quader has urged the interim government to take responsibility for implementing the July Charter and demanded that the 13th national parliamentary elections be held based on the charter.
"The people entrusted the interim government with ensuring the trial of fascists, carrying out necessary reforms, and holding free and fair elections," Abdul Quader said while speaking as the chief guest at a protest rally held today (18 September) in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka.

"However, we have observed conspiracies to leave several key reform measures for the next elected government. The administration and law enforcement have yet to make the desired progress to ensure a truly free and fair election."
He warned that without full implementation of reforms, there is public doubt whether future elected authorities will effectively carry them out, based on past experience. "Therefore, the interim government must take responsibility for implementing the July National Charter immediately and provide a legal basis for its enforcement," he added.
The Khelafat Majlis leader also criticised the government for issuing a gazette notification appointing music and arts teachers in all primary schools, instead of addressing the long-standing demand for religious teachers. "This decision has sparked widespread dissatisfaction among the majority of the population."

He further said, "We demand immediate action to hold PR-based elections in the upper house, provide legal backing for the July Charter, make judicial proceedings visible, suspend the political activities of fascist groups and their collaborators, and ensure the appointment of religious teachers in primary schools."
Top party leaders were also present at the gathering.
Today, seven Islamic parties — including Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and Khelafat Majlis — staged separate processions and rallies across Dhaka, reiterating common demands such as implementing the July Charter, introducing the PR system, and ensuring a level playing field for a free, fair, and acceptable election.
