Grassroots leaders and activists are united in their support for Jatiyo Party (JaPa) Chairman GM Quader, said the party's newly appointed Secretary General Shameem Haider Patwari today (9 July).
Shameem also dismissed allegations that Quader was avoiding holding a council due to a fear of defeat, saying that such claims are unfounded.
"It is the grassroots who participate in the council. They are firmly behind GM Quader to support him. Who is there to even challenge him in the council?" he said while speaking at a reception organised by JaPa's Dhaka north unit at the party's Banani office.

He also recalled the past betrayals by senior leaders and Presidium members, which he claimed led to the party breaking apart seven times.
"Despite this, the grassroots leaders and activists have always remained loyal to the party and never strayed from its mainstream," said Shameem, a former Gaibandha lawmaker.
Highlighting a recent show of support, he pointed to the massive gathering of party activists in Dhaka on 25 June, declaring it a turning point for the party's future direction.
"That day, the future course of Jatiyo Party was determined," he said.
Shamim pledged to organise extended meetings in all divisions, districts, and upazilas within a short time, vowing to build momentum from the ground up and reinvigorate the party at every level.
