Grand mass gathering to be held on Tarique Rahman’s homecoming: Rizvi
“After a long 17-year break, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is returning home on 25 December. We are expecting the presence of half a crore people,” Rizvi said.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday said a grand mass gathering will be organised on the occasion of the homecoming of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman on 25 December.
"After a long 17-year break, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is returning home on 25 December. A grand gathering of people will take place to welcome him on that day. We are expecting the presence of half a crore people," Rizvi said.
He made the remarks while inspecting the progress of the reception stage in the afternoon.
Rizvi said all necessary measures are being taken by the party, in coordination with the government, to ensure security at the event.
"The government is also sincere about Tarique Rahman's security," he added.
The senior BNP leader said Tarique Rahman will first attend the reception programme after arriving home on 25 December and will then visit his mother, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, at Evercare Hospital.
