Ganosamhati Andolon has demanded the trial of Awami League as a political party over indiscriminate killing and establishing a reign of terror in the last 15 years.

The future of Bangladesh will be decided through the trial of AL, said Chief Coordinator of the party Zonayed Saki and Executive Coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel in a joint statement today (10 May).

The ousted AL government had established a reign of terror through enforced disappearances, murder, choking the voice of the public, snatching the right to vote, corruption, looting and siphoning off money abroad, the statement said.

During the July uprising, AL had killed more than 1,500 people and injured thousands by killing the students, workers and people indiscriminately. AL's involvement in these crimes have been presented by various reports, including one by the United Nations (UN), the statement added.

Through the statement, Ganosamhati Andolon demanded not only the trial of AL but also bringing those politicians associated with these crimes and those who had supported AL in carrying out these crimes under trial.
