Faridpur’s Bhanga residents call fresh 3-day road and rail blockade over constituency change
UP Chairman Md Moniruzzaman said the protest will continue until the new gazette is withdrawn and the two unions remain with Faridpur-4.

Protesters in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur have announced a fresh three-day blockade of major highways and railway routes, rejecting a government gazette that moves Algi and Hamirdi unions from Faridpur-4 constituency to Faridpur-2.
At a press conference yesterday at the Algi Union Parishad office, Algi Union Parishad Chairman Md Moniruzzaman Siddique Miah said the protest will continue until the new gazette is withdrawn and the two unions remain with Faridpur-4.
He noted that a four-day highway blockade had already been observed until last Thursday. The next phase will see blockades from 6:00am to 6:00pm today through Tuesday (14–16 September) at eight points on the Padma Bridge–Dhaka–Khulna and Faridpur–Barishal highways.
Ambulances, journalists' vehicles and transports carrying raw or perishable goods will be exempt, he added.
The press conference, organised under the banner of the "All-party Unity Council of Bhanga upazila's Algi and Hamirdi unions," was also addressed by Bhanga upazila BNP President Khandaker Iqbal Hossain Selim, General Secretary Habibur Rahman Munshi, Bhanga upazila Jamaat chief Sarwar Hossain, and Gharua Union Parishad Chairman Monsur Ahmed, among others.
The speakers said they want to achieve their demand peacefully, without any kind of unruliness. They said the people of Bhanga will not return home until their demand is met. If necessary, the residents of Bhanga upazila will march towards the Election Commission to press their demand.
