Expelled BNP leader Rumeen Farhana declares assets worth Tk65 lakh
The affidavit states that Rumeen Farhana’s highest educational qualification is Bar-at-Law. She is a practising lawyer at the Bangladesh Supreme Court.
Barrister Rumeen Farhana, who has been expelled from the BNP, has declared total assets worth Tk65 lakh in her affidavit submitted to the Election Commission for the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
According to information published on the Election Commission's website, she submitted her nomination papers on Monday (29 December) at the office of the assistant returning officer of Sarail upazila for the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency.
The affidavit states that Rumeen Farhana's highest educational qualification is Bar-at-Law. She is a practising lawyer at the Bangladesh Supreme Court.
According to the affidavit, she owns multiple plots of land and flats in Dhaka through inheritance. She received five kathas of land and five flats on Dhanmondi Laboratory Road from her mother, and another five kathas of land and five flats in Lalmatia's B Block from her father. The affidavit also mentions two flats owned by her on Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Sarani in Puranapaltan. The estimated value of these properties has been shown as Tk65 lakh.
The affidavit further states that she has Tk32 lakh in cash and 10 bhori of gold ornaments. She does not hold any foreign currency and has no money deposited in banks. She has no investments in bonds, debentures or the stock exchange, owns no vehicles in her name and has not taken any loans from banks or financial institutions.
As sources of income, she has declared an annual income of Tk8.75 lakh from house rent, along with Tk6 lakh per year from teaching and consultancy work.
According to her income tax return for the 2025–26 fiscal year, Rumeen Farhana has shown an annual income of Tk97.14 lakh. The affidavit also mentions that four cases have been filed against her under different laws.
