EC allows expatriates to correct address in Postal Vote BD app till 9 December
The Election Commission (EC) has extended the deadline until 9:00am on 9 December for expatriate Bangladeshis to correct their address in the Postal Vote BD app to vote in the national election and the referendum.
This information was made public today in a message sent by the EC to the media, Salim Ahmad Khan, Team Leader of the Out of Country Voting System and Implementation Project, told BSS.
The EC said in its message that, at the special request of expatriates, the opportunity to correct incorrect or incomplete addresses in the 'Postal Vote BD' app has been extended until 9:00am on 9 December. After this date, no further opportunity for address correction will be available.
Meanwhile, the EC has urged expatriate Bangladeshis to provide accurate addresses during registration through the Postal Vote BD app.
In this regard, the EC stated that, to receive the postal ballot, voters must provide the correct address according to the applicable regulations of the country where they currently reside when registering in the Postal Vote BD app. If necessary, voters may provide their workplace or an acquaintance's address. Without providing a correct and complete address, it will not be possible to send the postal ballot paper to voters.
Earlier, the EC had set 6 December as the deadline for expatriates to correct their addresses in the Postal Vote BD app.
Additionally, voters engaged in election duties and government employees staying outside their own constituencies will be able to register through the Postal Vote BD app and exercise their voting rights from the date of the election schedule announcement until 25 December.
The EC further said that, in the 13th general election, voters engaged in election duties, government employees staying outside their own constituencies, and voters in legal custody will be able to register through the Postal Vote BD app from the date of the election schedule announcement until 25 December. So far, 2,27,385 expatriate Bangladeshi voters from different countries around the world have registered through the Postal Vote BD app to vote in the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum.
