Vested quarters spreading propaganda over killing of Hadi: Chhatra Dal president
The organisation announced the protest demanding justice over nationwide mob violence, including the burning to death of garment worker Deepu Chandra Das in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, and the killing of seven-year-old Ayesha, the daughter of BNP assistant organising secretary Belal Hossain
Jatiyotabadi Chhatra Dal President (JCD) Rakibul Islam Rakib has alleged that some vested quarters had been spreading propaganda on the death of Inqilab Mancha leader Sharif Osman bin Hadi while he was fighting for his life undergoing treatment in Singapore.
Speaking at a Dhaka University (DU) unit protest rally today (21 December) in front of the Raju Memorial Sculpture, Rakib also alleged that certain Ducsu-Rucsu leaders and Islami Chhatra Shibir leaders from JU and Chittagong University (CU) were responsible in this regard, as well as rumours surrounding Hadi's burial which took place yesterday (20 December)
The rally was brought out around 12:45pm from the TSC Payera Chattar. It marched through the VC Chattar, Mall Chattar, Arts Building and Central Library, before ending at the base of the Anti-Terrorism Raju Sculpture at TSC
During the rally, leaders and activists chanted slogans including "Ayesha was burned to death, what is the interim government doing" (Ayesha ke puriye maare, interim ki kore), "We want justice", "Deepu Das was burned to death, what is the administration doing" (Dipu Das ke puriye maare, proshashon ki kore), and "A safe Bangladesh is Chhatra Dal's pledge".
"Chhatra-Shibir is Bangladesh's foremost subservient student organisation," Rakib said, adding that justice will be served against them one day.
"Shibir does not want student politics but opportunistic politics," he remarked.
Referring to Shibir, the Chhatra Dal president claimed that the group, who is involved in mob violence, secretly trains its members in spreading propaganda. He urged the student community to consider this carefully.
Earlier, the organisation announced the protest demanding justice over nationwide mob violence, including the burning to death of garment worker Deepu Chandra Das in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, and the killing of seven-year-old Ayesha, the daughter of BNP assistant organising secretary Belal Hossain, after her home was set on fire in Bhabaniganj Union in Lakshmipur.
The protest comes in light of recent incidents of arson attack and vandalism at the offices of leading dailies Prothom Alo and The Daily Star as well as Chhayanaut and Udichi.
