Delay in implementing July Charter will be a betrayal with nation: Jamaat’s Taher
He has urged the government to implement the decisions made in the Consensus Commission meetings

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher warned that any delay in implementing the July Charter would amount to a betrayal with the nation.
"This nation has witnessed misdeeds over the past 54 years. The signing of the July Charter will change that for good. Whoever comes to power must strictly adhere to these commitments," he said while talking to reporters after the July National Charter signing ceremony at the South Plaza of the Parliament this afternoon (17 October).
Mentioning that the charter signed today does not yet have a legal basis, Taher said, "By signing it, we have only expressed agreement on the issues discussed in previous dialogues. Any delay in its implementation now would be a betrayal with the nation and could trigger a political crisis."
Expressing confidence in the chief adviser, Taher added, "We hope he will honour his commitments and refrain from exercising hegemony that could create a new crisis in Bangladesh."
The much-awaited "July National Charter 2025" was signed this afternoon, amid the boycott of several political parties, including the National Citizen Party (NCP).
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, members of National Consensus Commission and leaders of 25 political parties signed the charter at South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka.
Drafted by the Consensus Commission, the charter is intended to serve as a framework for state reform following last year's July Uprising.
