Cucsu polls: ‘Voice of CU’ panel announced without VP, GS, AGS candidates
The candidates were selected from students without political affiliations, based on their honesty and competence
A group of students at the University of Chittagong (CU) have announced an independent panel named "Voice of CU" for the upcoming Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) elections.
However, the panel excludes candidates for the posts of vice president (VP), general secretary (GS), and assistant general secretary (AGS).
"In most student union elections, the top three positions get disproportionate attention, but in reality it is the secretaries who work most closely with students. That's why we decided not to field candidates for those posts," said Shafiul Islam Safi, the panel's candidate for liberation war and democratic movements affairs secretary.
He said the candidates were selected from students without political affiliations, based on their honesty and competence.
The panel, launched under the motto "believing in quality, not quantity," was unveiled at a press conference in front of the Cucsu building today (21 September).
The other candidates of the panel include — Muslima Khanom Akhi as office secretary, Sanjida Alam as women's affairs secretary, Jashim Uddin as health affairs secretary, Shahriyan Ahmed Anim as career development and international affairs secretary, Mohammad Sadek as assistant sports secretary, Ashiqur Rahman Ashiq as communication and accommodation affairs secretary, Abu Nasim assistant communication and accommodation affairs secretary, while Ismail Hossain is running for library and cafeteria affairs secretary, and Iftekhar Hossain is running for the post of executive member.
