Chhatra Dal walks out of Cucsu code of conduct meeting, alleging limited time to speak
Responding to the allegation, Chief Election Commissioner Prof Monir Uddin said they have noted everything and will sit with them many more times in the upcoming days

The Chattogram University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) Election Commission today (11 September) held a views-exchange meeting with students on the draft electoral code of conduct for the 2025 Cucsu and hall union elections.
However, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal staged a walkout, alleging they were not given enough time and opportunity to ask questions.
The meeting took place at 12pm in the auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences and concluded around 2pm. During the discussion, the commission and students exchanged views on various issues, including the use of transport for election campaigns and the timeframe for campaigning.
Chhatra Dal, however, claimed students were not given adequate time or scope to speak.
Sajjad Hossain Hridoy, the student wing's organising secretary, said, "The University administration organised a views-exchange meeting on the electoral code of conduct. But in reality, it was not a proper exchange of views. The administration fixed a time for us, telling us to ask only one question and that too within one minute.
"In other student union elections, we have seen administrations allow students more time and take their input into account before reaching a logical decision. But that was not the case here. That's why we boycotted the meeting."
Responding to the allegation, Chief Election Commissioner Prof Monir Uddin said, "We have noted everything. Apart from this meeting, we will sit with them many more times in the upcoming days. We will take further opinions from them."
The meeting was attended by CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Md Kamal Uddin, Chief Election Commissioner Prof Monir Uddin, Election Commissioner, and Member Secretary Prof AKM Ariful Haque Siddiqui, other election commissioners, leaders of different student organisations, and general students.
