After nearly two decades, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to visit his ancestral home district Bogura on 28 January to attend a planned election rally.
Party leaders and activists have expressed immense enthusiasm, and extensive preparations are underway for his arrival and the scheduled rally.

The highlight of the visit will be a public rally at the historic Altafunnesa Playground in Bogura at 8pm.
"There is tremendous excitement among BNP leaders and workers in Bogura regarding Tarique Rahman's arrival," Mosharraf Hossain said.
He went on to say, "His visit is crucial as he will outline the party's election pledges to the public here."
Freedom fighter and former BNP central committee executive member Md Shokrana said Tarique Rahman will stay in a specially reserved presidential suite at Hotel Naz Garden during his visit.
"This room is normally not rented to any other guest and has been made solely for him," he said.

On 29 January, he will address road meetings across his constituency, including Charmatha, Baropur, and Sabgram, and later hold separate meetings in Bogra-7 (Gabatoli-Shajahanpur) constituency. He will visit his ancestral home in Gabtoli's Bagbari before departing for Rangpur via the Dhaka-Rangpur highway on 30 January.
Bogura District BNP Vice President Maftun Ahmed Khan Rubel said Tarique Rahman's visit is a source of renewed energy for the party.
"He will lift the country from the brink of destruction and restore the momentum of development," he added.
District BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha predicted that lakhs of people would gather to welcome the party chairman.
"The people of Bogura are eagerly awaiting their beloved son, and all preparations have been completed ahead of his arrival," he said.
Tarique Rahman was originally scheduled to visit Bogura on 11 January, but the trip was postponed. Ahead of the visit, renovation and beautification work has been completed across the city, including roads and the party office.
