The upcoming national election is unprecedented, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher said today (29 December), claiming that the BNP has been left isolated while the Awami League remains absent from the race.
Taher made the remarks while talking to journalists after submitting nomination papers for Cumilla-11 (Chauddagram) constituency to Assistant Returning Officer Md Nurul Amin today (29 December).
"Those claiming no election would occur saw their conspiracy fail today," he said.
"We hope for a participatory, fair election where people can vote in an orderly fashion. People know who are involved in extortion and corruption; they will vote against them," he added.
