The BNP introduced state reforms in the country with multi-party democracy, the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today (15 December).

"Many people talk about reforms. The first reform was started by martyred president Ziaur Rahman. He made reforms in every sector," he said at a discussion held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Criticising the advisers of the interim government, he said, "Now they [advisers] are the ones who lecture us on reforms."

Also speaking on the occasion, BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said, "The people of the country have never sat silent. If they don't get the opportunity to change the government through voting, they cause a mass uprising. So I would like to warn those who are currently running the country that they should make arrangements for elections soon."

BNP Standing Committee Member Abdul Moin Khan said, "Our movement will continue until the right to vote is achieved. We will not leave the streets."

BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan said, "We want to come to power through elections, not through conspiracies, that's why our acting chairman Tarique Rahman said the BNP will come to power through people's love and respect."
