Information Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary, Dr Hasan Mahmud, has said BNP is guilty of two crimes – involvement in creating anarchy and trying to hide the culprits.

It is because of BNP's irresponsible politics and their nurturing of criminals that all these evil forces have a chance to rise, said Dr Hasan to journalists at his residence in the capital on Saturday.

Mentioning that the opposition also has a responsibility towards the country, the information minister said to BNP, "I would request you to criticise constructively if you see any mistake, but do not speak irresponsibly from a responsible position."

Responding to the BNP secretary general's remarks that "government-backed people have caused vandalism in recent times and Nipun Roy's phone conversation has been made by the government," Dr Hasan said, "Who caused the anarchy is published in all the media, including newspapers. All this has been done under the banner of the current leadership of Hefazat-e-Islam in a conspiracy to destabilise the situation in the country. And they have been helped by BNP and Jamaat, the best proof of which is the phone conversation of BNP's Nipun Roy."

"Nipun Roy's phone conversation is as clear as daylight. Terming it fabricated is just a repetition of lies by Mirza Fakhrul," said the Minister.

Attacking the house of Ustad Alauddin Khan, setting fire to the houses of devout common people, burning documents in the land office, asking a journalist in Narayanganj to recite the Kalema after he said his name was 'Sourav,' attempting to take off one's lungi to find out his religion – all these things done by Hefazat were done by the Pakistani aggressors in 1971, said the Awami League joint general secretary.
