BNP to clean up Tarique Rahman's reception venue, surrounding areas
The party will begin removing waste from the 300 Feet road, Airport Road and adjacent areas from tomorrow morning
Dhaka Metropolitan North unit of BNP will launch a cleanup drive along the capital's 300 Feet road and surrounding areas following the public gathering marking the homecoming of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
In a Facebook post tonight (25 December), BNP Sports Secretary Aminul Haque said the party will begin removing waste from the July 36 Expressway (300 Feet road), Airport Road and adjacent areas from tomorrow morning.
The cleanup drive will be carried out by party leaders and activists of Dhaka North BNP, he added.
Tarique, along with his wife and daughter, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka at 11:40am today after more than 17 years in exile in London.
He then addressed a reception rally on 300 Feet Road in Purbachal, attended by thousands of supporters and BNP leaders and activists.
BNP leaders and activists from different districts gathered at the 300 Feet Road area, defying the winter cold.
The party said despite Dhaka's many historically significant venues, it picked the 'July 36 Expressway', popularly known as the 300 feet road, for the reception programme due to strategic and humanitarian considerations aimed at minimising public inconvenience.
The decision was taken in line with Tarique Rahman's instructions to avoid central and historically sensitive locations such as Suhrawardy Udyan or Manik Mia Avenue, Tarique Rahman's adviser Mahdi Amin said yesterday (24 December).
