Anisul-Ruhul JaPa faction seeks EC’s approval to secure ‘plough’ symbol
EC officials said the commission will discuss the matter, and resolve it

The newly emerged faction of the Jatiyo Party, led by Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud as chairman and ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader as secretary general, has written to the Election Commission to approve their recently formed committee as the "main stream" of the party.
The faction on 9 August held the party's 10th National Council in Dhaka's Gulshan – leaving aside the GM Quader faction – where Anisul and Ruhul were elected to the above-mentioned posts by voice vote of councillors.

"On 9 August, nearly 5,000 councillors from across the country participated in a voice vote at a community center in Gulshan, electing four individuals to top positions on the central executive committee," the faction told EC in the letter sent on 10 August.
In the letter, the faction asserted that the council is constitutionally "valid", and that only their committee has the legitimate right to use the Jatiyo Party's "plough" symbol. However, in the letter, they have left the matter to be resolved by the EC.
