Mahbubul Alam Hanif, the Awami League candidate for the Kushtia-3 constituency, has declared a staggering debt exceeding Tk100 crore in the affidavit submitted to the returning officer for the 12th national elections.

Despite experiencing an increase in annual income over the last five years, Hanif, who is also the joint general secretary of the ruling party, has seen a decline in his assets.

The affidavit reveals that his annual income has increased to more than Tk3.64 crore from Tk2.32 crore in 2018.
