The BNP has officially appointed former secretary ABM Abdus Sattar as the personal secretary of the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and journalist AAM Saleh as his press secretary.
The appointments were confirmed today (3 January) in a press release signed by the party's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Sattar is a former bureaucrat who previously served as the private secretary to the late BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Additionally, Saleh, widely known as Saleh Shibly, is a former general secretary of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU). He has been a close aide to Tarique during his time in London, managing press-related responsibilities for several years.
He returned to Bangladesh on 25 December along with Tarique on the same flight from London.
These appointments follow Tarique's return to the country's political landscape after more than 17 years in exile.
Since his return, the party has been upgrading its infrastructure, including the preparation of a new office chamber for him on the second floor of the BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office.
