Police file first charge sheet in CJMC against Hasina, 114 others for murder
Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Dr Enamur Rahman, and Advocate Qamrul Islam, have also been named as accused in the murder case
Savar Model Police Station submitted the first charge sheet in the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a murder case filed over the killing of Nabi Nur Morol during the July–August Mass Uprising in 2024.
A total of 114 people, including Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Dr Enamur Rahman, and Advocate Qamrul Islam, have been named as accused in the case over the killing of fish trader Nabi Nur Morol.
Investigating officer Sub‑Inspector Foysal Alam, in the charge sheet, alleged that Nabi Nur Morol joined the Anti‑Discrimination Student Movement rally on 20 July 2024 at Wapda Road under Savar Model Police Station.
"Being incited by the prime accused, including Sheikh Hasina, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and Obaidul Quader, the other accused led by Dr Enamur Rahman, Manjurul Alam Razib, and Haji Abdul Goni opened fire on the protesters using pistols, shotguns, and local weapons," the charge sheet said.
"One bullet fired from the pistol of Manjurul Alam Razib hit Morol in the abdomen and exited through the other side. He was rushed to Savar Enam Medical Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next day," the charge sheet read.
Morol's widow, Aklima Begum, filed the case on 4 September 2024. Police, after more than a year of investigation, submitted the charge sheet.
"I have filed the charge sheet against 114 accused in the case, and the allegations against them were found to be true," the investigating officer said.
The plaintiff, Aklima Begum, expressed satisfaction over the submission of the charge sheet and demanded justice.
