Police cyber cell to monitor misleading social media content on Christmas, New Year’s Eve
To ensure law and order during these events, law enforcement agencies will deploy the Bomb Disposal Unit, Crime Scene Van, Quick Response Team, and SWAT team

Immediate action will be taken against those involved in attempting to disrupt communal harmony by posting misleading content, comments, or photos on social media related to Christmas or New Year's Eve celebrations, Additional Inspector General of Police Md Alamgir said today (17 December).
"The cyber monitoring and patrolling teams will be strengthened to prevent the spread of rumors," he said during a meeting on law and order.
The meeting also decided to take strict measures against reckless driving, the use of loud vehicle horns, or other disruptive behaviors involving cars or motorcycles during the festivities.
To ensure law and order during these events, law enforcement agencies will deploy the Bomb Disposal Unit, Crime Scene Van, Quick Response Team, and SWAT team, Alamgir added.
Like previous years, police imposed a ban on firecrackers and sky lanterns on Christmas Day (25 December) and New Year's Eve (31 December).
Organisers have also been urged to enhance security at churches nationwide by deploying volunteers, arranging adequate lighting, and ensuring standby generators or charger lights, alongside the law enforcing agencies.
The official said security will be tightened at tourist destinations, including Cox's Bazar and Kuakata, to ensure a safe celebration of New Year's Eve.
Alamgir expressed optimism about a smooth celebration of both Christmas Day and New Year's Eve across the country.
Additional Inspector General (Crime and Operations) Akram Hossain, Special Branch Additional Inspector General Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, St. Mary's Cathedral Church Priest Father Albert Rozario, and other officials were present at the meeting.
