Police arrest 25 AL leaders, activists in city
The detainees are accused of organising unauthorised gatherings and attempting to resume political programmes that had been prohibited by authorities
The Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested 25 leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organisations for allegedly engaging in bringing out sudden processions in the capital city.
According to DB officials, the arrests were made during a series of coordinated operations across different areas of Dhaka in the last 24 hours.
The detainees are accused of organising unauthorised gatherings and attempting to resume political programmes that had been prohibited by authorities, confirmed Deputy Commissioner of DB (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Muhammad Talebur Rahman.
The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated, and further legal action will follow after initial investigations.
DB officials reaffirmed that strict measures will continue against any organization or group violating the current ban on political activities in the capital, emphasizing that maintaining public order and security remains their top priority.
