PM expresses deep sorrow over China coal mine blast deaths

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the loss of lives in a coal mine explosion in Shanxi Province of China.
In a message posted on the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) facebook page, Tarique said, "We are deeply saddened by the coal mine explosion in Shanxi Province and the heartbreaking loss of so many lives."
On behalf of the Government and the people of Bangladesh, he extended his sincere condolences to the bereaved families and the people of China during this time of profound grief.
Tarique also conveyed sympathy to those injured and expressed hope for their speedy recovery.
The prime minister appreciated the ongoing rescue efforts, saying the rescue teams working tirelessly to find the missing.
"Bangladesh stands in solidarity with China and commends the ongoing efforts to support the victims, assist the injured, and investigate this incident," he said.
The prime minister prayed for strength, comfort and healing for all those affected by the tragedy.
A devastating gas explosion occurred at a coal mine in China's northern Shanxi Province on Friday at around 7:29pm local time.
At least 82 people were killed in the incident. According to Chinese state media, 247 workers were inside the mine at the time of the explosion.
