PM directs opening of language training centres to build skilled workforce for overseas jobs
The prime minister also directed the relevant ministries to introduce low-interest bank loans and simplify loan procedures so that job seekers do not have to sell their assets to secure overseas employment.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed the establishment of language training centres across the country to help develop a skilled workforce for overseas employment.
The directive was issued during a meeting of a committee formed to expand overseas employment and promote expatriate welfare at the Secretariat today (5 March), said the prime minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman.
"At the meeting, the prime minister instructed the relevant ministries to take swift measures to prepare unemployed youths for overseas employment. He directed that language learning centres be established across the country with both local and foreign teachers so that unemployed young men and women can learn different languages and access job opportunities abroad," he said.
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister's Office at the Secretariat around noon, discussed ways to create faster opportunities for overseas employment and various related issues. The prime minister chaired the meeting.
The Additional Press Secretary said the prime minister also directed the relevant ministries to introduce low-interest bank loans and simplify loan procedures so that job seekers do not have to sell their assets to secure overseas employment.
"At the meeting, the prime minister asked the relevant ministries to take steps to introduce low-interest bank loans and simplify the process so that no one has to sell their property to go abroad for employment," he said.
Free WiFi at three international airports
The Additional Press Secretary also said the prime minister directed the Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister to introduce free WiFi services at the terminals of the country's three international airports - Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, and MAG Osmani International Airport in Sylhet - similar to facilities available at airports in developed countries.
Renovation of temple in Dhaka-17
The Additional Press Secretary further said the prime minister has taken steps to quickly implement a pledge he made in his constituency.
He said, "During the election campaign, BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman promised to renovate a temple belonging to the Sanatan Hindu community near Mohakhali Cancer Hospital in Dhaka-17 constituency. He has instructed that renovation work on the temple begin next Saturday."
"Administrators of the two Dhaka city corporations, Abdus Salam and Shafiqul Islam Milton, along with Tarique Rahman's election coordinator in Dhaka-17 constituency, Professor Farhad Halim Dona, will be present at the site at 11am on Saturday."
