Oman ambassador pays farewell to Foreign Minister

The head of mission of the embassy of Oman, Ta'eeb Salim Abdullah Al Alawi paid his farewell call to the Foreign Minister AK. Abdul Momen recently at his official residence.

Foreign Minister congratulated the head of mission on his successful completion of tour of duty in Bangladesh expressing sincere gratitude to the Oman government for ensuring necessary care to approx. 700,000 Bangladeshi workers, said a press release. 

Abdul Momen deeply appreciated Oman's support at the international fora on the Rohingya issue, particularly its role at the recently 3rd Committee Resolution at the UN on the Rohingya issue and also in the Gambia- led case in ICJ.

The ambassador expressed his deep appreciation for the support and cooperation extended to him during his tenure in Bangladesh said, "The transformation of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the last ten years as he could compare the present Bangladesh and what he saw as head of Asia department years back."

He appreciated the decision of the Bangladesh government to relocate some of the Rohingyas from Vashan Char as he found it conducive and safe for living. He referred to several visits to Cox's Bazar several times to supervise the construction work of 16000 make-shift homes at that area. 

The ambassador also expressed appreciation on the progress of the process for draft agreement on mutual visa exemption for diplomatic and official passports which is to be implemented soon.
