Veteran journalist KMA Hasnat passes away at 69
The senior journalist, who spent more than three decades reporting on the economy, was also a former teacher and a senior member of ERF and DRU.
Veteran journalist and freedom fighter KMA Hasnat, also known as Kismat Khondokar, died at a hospital in the capital this afternoon (29 July). He was 69.
He breathed his last around 5pm at Nagorik Hospital in Aftabnagar, his nephew Rishad confirmed to TBS.
A graduate in economics from the University of Dhaka, Hasnat was a senior member of both the Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF) and the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

In a condolence message, ERF President Doulot Akter Mala and General Secretary Abul Kashem expressed deep sorrow over his death.
Hasnat began his career in academia before switching to journalism. During a career spanning more than three decades, he worked for several newspapers and online news portals, including Manab Zamin and Samakal. Most recently, he served as a senior correspondent at BanglaNews24.
His body will be taken to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka tonight for funeral rites before being transported to his hometown in Tangail's Mirzapur.
He will be laid to rest there after namaz-e-Janaza following Zuhr tomorrow.
